1. Choose and arrange your photos
The most important step in the creation process is selecting and organizing your images. When you upload your photos to the design studio, you can do half of the work by having a good idea of the number and order of the photos.
It is best to create a folder or folders with the photos you have selected. Consider tackling the task one “moment” at a time if there are too many to sort through. Create multiple folders to separate the day into sections such as getting ready, ceremony, portraits of the newlyweds and reception. After you have selected your favorite images, label them from 1 to the order that you would like them to appear in the book. This will save you time when ordering the images in the design studio. You’re still a little stuck? Our guide on the 10 most important moments to include in a wedding album will help you.
2. Choose a theme
The pictures you choose to preserve in an album should be chosen in a way that tells the perfect story of your wedding day. What is the story you want to tell and do the photos reflect that?
If you want to capture the most important moments of your wedding, whether it’s the timeline or emotional journey, you and your partner or family and friends or even the finer details (flowers, heels, dresses and suits) and the atmosphere (venue décor, food, beverages and entertainment), make sure your photos reflect your priorities. You can get some inspiration from our blog on what wedding theme would suit you best.
3. Find the right format

Perfect for
The most popular option among newlyweds. This is the most popular choice among newlyweds. Traditional, statement table books.
Celebrate every moment of your life. Include as many pictures as you can, and pages of text without worrying about a page limit. This is a great option for gifts and you can buy this from ilfotoalbum.com.
This is a modern, contemporary wedding magazine. Ideal for displaying the most photos possible. Bulk pricing is a great choice if you are looking to buy a large number of magazines for your family or yourself, or if you simply want different magazines for each day.
Please note that for albums with more than 46 pages, we use a slightly thinner board (0.88 – 0.98mm) in order to accommodate the increased page count. Albums with more than 64 pages are not eligible for presentation boxes.
4. Size it up
Landscape, square or portrait? It is best to review your photos, and then match the orientation with your photo album or book. Your photos will display perfectly. You can choose the best orientation if you have a mixture.
The most popular format is Landscape, but we also have a soft corner for our Portrait photo albums. They are elegant and traditional.
Which is better, Large or medium? Our Large formats are perfect for any wedding. If you are unsure about where to display your keepsake, think about it. Will it sit proudly on your coffee table in a Presentation Box or be safely tucked away on a bookshelf?
Choose the size that will fit into your daily life. People often choose a size that reflects their wedding. You could choose a more understated, smaller design if you were having an intimate wedding. Consider a large format if you are planning a larger celebration.
5. It’s all in the details
The smallest details can bring your nuptials alive on the page. Our intuitive Design Studio, along with specially designed Designer Templates makes it easy for you to create a book that is as beautiful as any professional’s.
When telling your wedding tale, consider the following:
Choose image templates with photos that reach the edge of your page for a dramatic effect.
* To make photos seem more intimate, leave a lot of space around the photo to draw in the viewer.
Consider adding quotes, song lyrics or vows to your text.
* Make sure to use plenty of space in your design for a timeless and clean look.
You can use our free tool to add, reposition and resize text and image frames if you need to make changes.
6. Just turn the page
We craft our Photo Books and Albums with paper stock that is archival quality, meaning your special wedding memories won’t decompose or discolor with age. We offer different paper stocks which all produce a slightly different print finish. The type of paper you select – whether it be Matt or Coated, Textured or Smooth – can have a significant impact on how your photos look in print.
Browse our paper options to find the best option for your photo finish. See our recommended options:
- Satin — Our most popular Photo Book Paper option. Satin is an uncoated white stock with a subtle sheen. It produces the most vivid and lifelike prints in our range.
- Photo Lustre — Our most popular option for Photo Album Paper. Photo Lustre has a smooth, thick paper with a glossy finish. It has the same look and feel as traditional photo papers, but produces vibrant, clear prints.
- Matt White– Our Wedding Magazines use only Matt White paper to mimic a professionally designed article. The print quality is muted because the stock is uncoated.
7. Judge a book by it’s cover
Your wedding album or book cover is the first impression of your marriage. You may have to choose between a text-only cover, a photo-only cover, or a Designer Cover depending on the book you select.
Text covers: Text covers are a modern, simple and understated way to introduce your love story.
Photo covers: A customized cover image is an excellent way to introduce your tale. This sets the tone at first glance, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to select that one image that makes you smile each time you look at it.
Designer Covers: Select from our beautiful templates which are UV printed on your cover using subtly raised colors. Customization is available for all occasions.
Selecting the right cover fabric will also be important. You want to choose something that perfectly captures your celebration. You can choose from a range of fabrics to match your style and personality. Cover fabrics include:
Our most popular fabric for cover. Available for our Premium Guest Books, Photo Albums and Photo Books.
* Classic Linen Available exclusively for our Classic Photo Book range and Photo Album range.
* Premium colored linen Available for our Premium Photo Books and Albums, as well as Guest Books.
* Premium Cloth/Buckram Available for our Premium Photo Books and Albums.
* Vegan leather
* Milano Italian Leather Available exclusively for our Premium leather Photo Albums and guest books.
8. Keep it safe
Our Medium and Large Photo Books, Albums and Photo Books come with an option to add an elegant Presentation Box. This will protect your precious memories from damage. Your keepsake was created with love, so it deserves to be treated as such.
A final tip for storing your photo album is that it should never be stored upright. The binding will become weaker over time if you store your album upright. Your album should be laid flat on a surface or table. Refer to our care guide for the best way to take care of your Photo Books and Albums.
